What amount of sex is appropriate for your age?

The Kinsey Institute, in conjunction with Indiana University, conducted a study without which we wouldn’t be able to live another day! In fact, no. But we need to generate interest in the news.

Scientists decided to calculate how much sex is typical for different ages. We would like to cheer you up — saying that the older you get, the richer and more regular your sexual life becomes. But alas…

Most often, people aged 18 to 29 engage in sex. (Pfft, what a surprise!) On the youthful fiery temperament, there are an average of 112 sexual acts per year, which is about 2 times a week.

Those who are stuck between 30 and 39 are satisfied with 86 sexual encounters per year. This means they have 1.6 times a week. (Apparently, this is the case when you seem to start having sex a second time in a week, but get interrupted at the stage of foreplay and decide it’s better to watch a series instead.)

And finally, those who have already blown out 40 candles on their cake have sex 69 times a year. The number, of course, is sexual, but it's half of what 20-year-olds have. Scientists tend to attribute this decline in sexual activity not so much to libido, but to the abundance of household chores and the appearance of dependents who need to be fed and taken to museums — they are also called children.

Interestingly, the researchers decided to stop at the age of 49 and not find out what would happen next. Perhaps that's for the best.
